I'm with Alice. If the kitchen is HUGE, you could do one wall in your yellow. If it's small, go white/off white for the walls and use the colour for accents.
My kitchen is a shotgun shape with a box on one end for seating. All one room, and an open door to the front living room. Walls and ceiling are white, accents are country blue (not quite a Colonial or Federal), Cobalt blue and maroon. The windows have shirred valances only made of blue and white pillow ticking.
I have 2 12 gallon crocks for flour and dog food. I made wooden lids for them, put a piece of foam on for a cushion then covered with maroon naughahyde. Couple of Dutch blue/Delft things on the walls, old kitchen utensils (butter paddle, kraut cutter, etc), my (WELL USED) cast iron and a printers tray filled with little things like keys.
Stained glass suncatchers in the windows and 'stuff' on the windowsills.
