I have the same hideous countertops. Talking of getting new ones, besides the expense, leads to a Hole-in-the-Bucket discussion: "The counters are worn out, dear hubby, dear hubby" "The cupboards are wonky, dear wifey, dear wifey" "Then straighten them, dear husband" "The floors they aren't level, Dear wifey, dear wifey" "Then level them, dear hubby" "I'll have to jack up the house, dear wifey, dear wifey"....

Needless to say, that ain't happenin' soonish.
