Back to yellow-- the technique of working with it-- this is not an anti-yellow advertisement and I approved this message. ;~)
When they've used it on the decorating shows, they've cautioned that extra coats are often needed for any shade of yellow, and they've also indicated that a softer, paler shade may "vibrate" as strongly as the deeper shade you liked on the paint chip without being so irritating over the long term.
The yellow, blue, purple should go well with the green you have elsewhere, and also you can use the green in the K as the tiny-accent splash to unify the green, pulling bits of it throughout the house as paint, fabric, rugs, or plant material.
Sorry about that pumpkin thing. If they'd had the right colors to go with it, it could have worked. The current crop of HGTV shows on staging homes for sale shows how to neutralize the impact of even the worst colors.
BTW if we hold another Mudcat Gathering, we'll be asking people to bring their painting clothes-- we got the OK to paint over the bird wallpaper and my colors are all picked out! I saved the fabric from my favorite room ever, and I believe I even have the piece of paper with the original paint chips stapled on, where I planned the first room in which I used the color scheme.
