I just read some of the posts for other than song lyrics, so forgive the follow-up. I am white and we sang the song in a suburban elementary school outside of Buffalo, NY. The teacher had printed lyrics and I always had the impression that this was a well established song.

The song we sang had a refrain and three vereses. I remember nothing of the verses, but the refrain went like this (or at least I remember it like this):

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher gusts,
mutilated monkey meat,
itty bitty birdie feet,
great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts,
a meal without a spoon.
