I think Oscar Peterson grew up in the St. Henri district of Montreal. My friend Ken Hemmerick was the son of Daisy Sweeney, Oscar's older sister who taught both of them how to play piano. Miss Daisy also taught Oliver Jones, another jazz piano great.
