If yellow is one of your favorite colors and you've been dreaming of a yellow kitchen, I say go with it.

I suggest finding a paint store where they have staff with some training. I say this because I just had a happy experience at a Sherwin Williams store where they sold me paint that was black with a green tone to paint the porch rails on our green house. Then they sold me a shade of gray off the same paint card for the porch floor. It is amazing how much those subtle, shared tones do to make the job look good.
