I wouldn't advise you on colour, but....

Do NOT use Ceiling White on the ceiling. I'm not sure if that is what Bobert meant, but Ceiling White is a great 'flat' paint for, say, a lounge ceiling, where it may never get stained, but it is porous, or at least cellular, and you cannot wash or bleach stains off it, the go into it. Especially flyspots, grease, or mildew.

Go one shade lighter than your first choice of wall colour. One shade blander than the colour sample. You can add colour with accents, pictures and suchlike, but its a big job to take it away.

There are programs for computers which will show the finished rooms. They are available for a token price at paint suppliers. Some advanced ones even work on your own photos.
