Thread Name: Lyr Req: Polish Children's Song - ficu micu??
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Polish Children's Song - ficu micu??
I talked to my friend on the phone today, and she sang it to me (ah, memories...), and she said she will type me up the lyrics in polish, in phonetic english, and an english translation. It does start with "ficu micu" (or fiku/miku, etc.) and this is just a nonsense name, the final words of the final line are "hop-sa-sa", which she said she believes is just meant to sound like the sound you make when you jump. The song is about a clown jumping, and the words mean something along the lines of "jump clown, jump. jump with us. I jump, we jump, jump with us clown." (or something very generally along those lines). I'll post what she sends me as soon as I get it!
To Irena: Thank you for the lyrics you posted!! Since I personally do not speak a word of polish myself, I'm curious if you have any tips or suggestions for pronouncing any parts of the lines you posted (they seem like they're a phonetic transcription, but my friend has told me that my pronunciation of "apparently phonetic" lyrics to some russian folk songs was totally "off"... so any additional pronunciation suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated!!).
Thanks again to everyone who's replied so far!
