For me Terry Conway's version of this song is the definitive one. Hearing that wonderful dialect singing those beauutiful sentimental words makes this Yorkshireman wish I'd been born 60 miles north so I could claim to be part of that regional group of family and friends who have guarded the integrity of their Northumbrian music so well.
