Hi Kids: You got the curiosity going. If it's this Bob you're talking about, I never did Mr. Bojangles, but I opened for Jerry Jeff Walker, who had the hit with it. The "stick line" I don't remember...It is a good song though.
Flashes going off in the neurons, old memories, me and Mr. Bruce at a party, 1970? at Liz Tansey's place on Prince Arthur. Felicity Fanjoy, sweetness. Hope she's still going. What a beautiful spirit that was the essence of the 60's. A voice gentle & quiet like the winter mist. (Looking out the window of my studio into the back yard with the trees. God's Blessings...) You got calmer just standing next to her. And, in the era of Vietnam, this meant a lot to me.
"Our condition was not pure" to mangle a line from one of Mr. B's songs. As we attempted the seemingly impossible task of crossing the street, little did we know that nearly 40 years later, all this would be happening.
I used to watch Bruce at The Yellow Door, observing how much he was getting out of that Martin without playing 6 notes a second. "Che Guevara," "Can I Come Across to You," you learn from stuff like that...
Yeah, shows like what happened at La Sala are like meteors, they are here and then gone. A group of like-minded spirits come together for a brief moment in time, and then POOF; another memory... And as time goes by, you begin to realize just how precious all this stuff is...

Oops, the squirrels are looking at me. They see the human inside the house and show themselves to get some nuts. Feeding time. Got to go...
