That is treating life as politics, calculation, positioning, working out strategies to achieve objectives. And thus hypocrisy, for example. Not to mention bearing false witness. And no doubt much more.

Life has been a lot like that for a veeeeeeeerrry long time for a lot of people. Possibly we've been in trouble for ditto because people lead their lives thusly.
