Thread Name: Glasson Maritime Weekend - Easter 08
Subject: RE: Glasson Maritime Weekend - Easter 08
I believe there will be a few gigs at Lancaster Maritime Museum.
We[Bitter End shanty website] have just received a signal (confirmed by a usually reliable source) that the Lancaster Shipmates Skull & Cross Bones is flying over Lancaster Town Hall!
Thanks to all of those people who supported the continuance of the festival by writing to the media, councillors etc - IT'S ON.
It will take place on Good Friday evening, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday & Easter Monday, as last year with the focus being Glasson Dock, but with some events in St George's Quayside pubs and the Maritime Museum. As before, there will be a service between Lancaster & Glasson Dock with the Classic Coaches (an experience in itself)
More information will be available on this website as arrangements progress.
In the meantime, contact can be made with the organisers on +44(0)1524 582810 or +44(0)1524 582872.
As usual, much of the festival will be free, but to help raise funds, the Shipmates Scheme will run again to support the festival at a modest fee of £15.
AS ALWAYS, BEWARE THE PRESS GANG!
P.S. Improvements this year will include the absence of the draughty marquee: instead Glasson Village Hall will be the main venue for concert performances.
If you have not been before, why not take the opportunity to visit the festival that wouldn't be sunk!!
The organisers look forward to welcoming you all to the Festival in its 20th year.
