Nominated for no less than four gongs in the 2008 BBC Folk Awards, (Best Group, Best Live Act, Best Album for 'Lightweights & Gentlemen' and Best Musician for Martin Green) Lau is a formidable union of three of the finest and most innovative exponents of modern traditional music in Scotland today; Kris Drever (guitar and vocal), Martin Green (piano accordion) and Aidan O'Rourke (fiddle). In a little over a year Lau have already become well established throughout Scotland and have started making huge waves at festivals across the world. Lau's now infamous live shows are a must-see experience. Their debut album 'Lightweights and Gentlemen' was released in March and won the accolade of fRoots 'Album of the Year'

Kris Drever who many of you will have recently seen solo at the club has ben involved with a myriad of different projects including The Battlefield Band, John McCusker, Kate Rusby, Session A9. His debut album 'Black Water' was released to great acclaim last year and he won the 'Horizon Award' at last years BBC Folk Awards in London.
Martin Green grew up playing English and Irish traditional music in the south of England. He has played with many of the great singers and players of English music including Martin Carthy, Norma Waterson, Kathryn Tickell, Linda Thompson, and a long-term collaboration with Eliza Carthy culminatining in a duo album "Dinner" released to great acclaim in 2001. In the last year Martin has performed with The Unusual Suspects and Salsa Celtica and has recently been nominated for 'Musician of the Year' in the BBC Folk Awards.

Aidan O'Rourke is a fiddle player and composer from Oban on the West Coast of Scotland. He has toured extensively in Europe and North America from the age of 15 and has made his name as one of Scotland's most expressive and dynamic musicians. He now performs with the hugely successful Blazin' Fiddles (Live Act of the Year 2004) and is a much sought after session musician, having performed on over 60 albums ranging from Runrig to Michael McGoldrick and Karen Matheson.

We're delighted that Jackie Oates will be providing support on the night. Born in Cheshire into a musical family (Jim Moray is her brother) fiddle-playing Jackie was briefly a member of The Winterset before embarking on her solo career. Her second album will be released in April and she's nominated for 'Best Newcomer' in the BBC Folk Awards
