Yes, I'd do away with the electoral college too. That would help with making final voting make sense....but we gotta work out a better way to choose who to vote for, and I'm not sure of exactly how.
In order to have viable 3rd & 4th parties, we'd need to change a LOT...to something like Canada's or England's...or Israel's....and that would be fought tooth & nail by vested interests. There'd have to be totally new ways to share power.
