Thanks a lot for these Mick. Much appreciated. According to my father, Tommy invented the sliding seat, developments of which are used in every competition rowing boat to this day. Interesting that in the River & Rowing Museum at Henley, there is an early sliding seat supposedly invented by someone from Pittsburg in 1856 - could this be after Tommy visited?
