I have been recording from cassette onto CD via my PC.

In all honesty, I have to admit the cassette player concerned is somewhat aged and part of a music centre tyep system.

However, the left channel has gone very weak now, to the point that I have to shift the recording balance very much to the left to get any decent end result. However, the left channel still sounds somewhat muffled, not as bright as it should.

The cassette playback head is always kept scrupulously clean with alcohol before recording.

Anyone any ideas what the problem / solution is.
