I have seen a study somewhere, years ago, which showed that headlight bulbs on Motorcycles last longer (in real time terms, not just in hours of use) if they are left on all the time.
Apparently the hot filament survives vibration better.
There's no switch on mine, so I could not turn it off if I wanted to.
