Maybe this fits here and then maybe not, but where else can I say it.
When we were in our teens early twenties the thing to say was. "Trying to get your finger wet". This was said to another male as he came forth with a smile or was appearing to his buddies after a date, walk home or simply a talk with a girl he was trying to pick up.
