Hi ossonflags. Couple of suggestions; Use a heavy, solid based mike stand rather than the tripod based type? Or, try adapting a speaker stand. These generally have a much wider spread on the tripod base. Easy enough to adapt; I did this once using reducing plumbing fittings.
