Thread Name: Tudor Barn Eltham Closure
Subject: RE: Tudor Barn Eltham Closure
It is always advisable to look beyond one's own special interest and seek out the readily available facts before composing angry letters about 'boarding up'. The Tudor Barn is not just a folk venue, it is also one of the most important historic buildings in the borough of Greenwich. The beautiful garden has recently had a lot of money spent on a stunning restoration by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the council itself.

I have no great love for Greenwich borough council, but they are unlikely to allow such a huge investment waste away and if they were stupid enough to do so, those 'busybodies', the Friends of Well Hall would be first at the barricades.

It has been reported in some detail in the the press that the present licensee wished to assign his lease to someone else, a perfectly normal business transaction. The council considered refusing and taking the barn back into their own management but, in the event, decided to allow the assignment.

I don't know who the new lessee is and he/she/they could, of course, turn out to be unfriendly to the Mob, but we don't know that yet, do we?
