Rowan: Heartstrings

Usually I understand those to be what keeps the heart in its place. But in here they get completely different associations. (-:
More like:

I wish I could play the strings of my heart
Strum them lightly to bring out its song.
To be able to play everything that I feel
And to have someone near that would sing along

Could you help me to free such a delicate sound
To do the one thing that I wouldn't dare
Reach deep inside me to break through the seal
And free all the music that's hidden in there

I'd like to hear the strings of your heart
Would you strum them so I can hear
Sing of the feelings your heart would reveal
And while you did would you let me be near
