Terry, one of F's happiest joys is to play with old, laundered socks from people he has known and sniffed. Next time you're stateside, I hope you might post him a bag of ready-to-be-retired toys. I'll even wash them!

We discovered this when staying with my adult son, who F just loved the moment he met him. Simpatico. I had forgotten to take dog toys on the trip, and F was young and playful. Dave cheerfully knotted up some old socks for thee purpose. F has NEVER offered to chew our socks or shoes, before or after this-- he is never confused about What Is a Toy. Later Dave visited here, and brought F the next drawerful instead of throwing them out. F remembered the smell, the game, the whole thing, and continued to remember it all when the next lot came by mail. So feel free to participate!
