I don't know how you went about getting those reports, Richard - but it's way out of line with what I've come across, first hand and second hand.

Maybe what's involved is the same process that seems to ensure that the vast majority of published accounts of childhood generally are about people having terrible childhoods. I came across a whole section in a bookshop which was reserved for them. And yet most childhoods are probably pretty happy - not perfect, because life isn't perfect, but pretty good.
