I dunno will -- Firewire handshakes occasionally do act iffy, but not on this regular a basis -- the recurring pattern is what is odd.

Does the flp-flop between ports one and two happen when you quit the Nero program and then start it again? Or does it only occur when you shut the computer down and then start it again?


Do you have other firewire devices you have been able to run on the same ports, without the failure occurring?

What are you putting on the other end of the FW link--a videocam? A VCR?

It sounds like a timing problem.

Does the scrambled port still misbehave if you unplug the device and plug it back into the same port?
