A quick correction to the above. The five hundred pounds surplus was the figure I was given last night, and represented the approximate difference between the door take and what we were left with after the meal had been paid for.

In fact, we also had the take for the raffle, plus money raised from the sale of some of Joe's books, plus several donations. After the cost of the meal has been deducted, and the cost of printing the tickets, we have eight hundred and seventy six pounds and forty four pence to pass on to the BHF.
