Part of the great (as in "huge", not as in "wonderful") movement in the English language to regularize verbs, casting away forms of verbs which don't conform to the pedestrian "-ed" past and past-perfect tense.
I miss such progressions as "strive, strove, striven". I predict that soon you'll hear "drive, drived, drived" (shudder, shudder).
