*trying to think*....I do know that there is an icon in my tray for access to the "safely remove hardware" option. I am supposed to use that when I remove my USB powered external drives.
Perhaps 'not' using that could make recognizing a piece of equipment a problem? I don't do this often, so I am not sure what might result from not doing it.
