Thread Name: Charles Parker Day 4 April 2008 - Bournemouth
Subject: Charles Parker Day
I've just had the following in from Pam Bishop of the Charles Parker Archive.

This year's Charles Parker Day will be held in Bournemouth on Friday 4 April - the day before what would have been Parker's 89th birthday. It will also celebrate the fiftieth anniversary - in June 2008 - of the first Radio Ballad, "The Ballad of John Axon", and the award of the 4th Charles Parker Prize for the best student radio documentary feature.

The organiser Sean Street has asked me to make sure that everyone has the details of this important day. It's hosted by Bournemouth University's Centre for Broadcasting History Research, and the cost is minimal - only £10 for the day, including lunch and refreshments.

Please email Sandie Rose at srose@bmth.ac.uk to book your place, and we look forward to seeing you there if you can make it.

Best wishes - Pam Bishop
