The waterproof MP3 players I've depended upon for use underwater are becoming less available, and I think that soon they will disappear as other technologies are trumping them. On dry land, I like my Samsung player. New versions of that come along, but are pricey. Features I need are the same, both in water and on land.

So I am increasingly curious about how Ipods may fit my purposes, but I don't have access to any to play with. My hope is that as Apple continues to soup up their technology, their earlier models may still be around for some time to come, cheap.

1. Which Ipod models store sound files in folders, and store them arranged in the folders by file name (not tag)?

2. Do Ipods have voice-record mics?
