I find that the Guild in general doesn't have uneccesary overtones and that makes it good for recording. Mine is balanced nicely and is pretty new.

12 strings can get pretty cumbersome in their sound so I like it strung light and tinkly.

In the early days, Glenn Campbell popularized the 12 string.
