Digital cameras are geting to be more reliable and sturdly built. BUT they are still delicate and complex bit of kit. Forget the adverts, around Christmas, for the Olympus camera, with the young lad playing fetch the camera with his dog. Most cameras won't survive being droped or any rough treatment, the LCD being the most exposed area. Check if you can claim your insurance and take extra care of your next camera.
