Hi, Jen,

My first suggestion is that she contact her local Office of Rehabilitation Services, or Vocational Services, or whatever they call it where you are. Also, the representative from HKNC should have a video she can watch. I am sure they are already linked up, but she can ask the representative to see some of the videos they have. They have bunches.

Learning the TTy takes no time and they will be teaching her that and lots more at HKNC. No need to cram before she goes. If she is in a hurry, the local Rehab counselor could show her how to use it, or the Center for Independent living nearest her can help.

HKNC is out in the Boonies-- but beautiful countryside. Also it is only a short train ride to NY, NY. Lots to see and do there. HKNC is just outside of Sands NY which is a neat little town and she will probably be going there much more than she expects. They have a great ice cream place there...

For weather there, you are on your own. I'm not from near there.... Look up New York, NY on the web for weather report...

If she is sponsored by Voc Rehab, she could be accompanied by someone if necessary, but if she is fairly indep, notifying the airlines that she needs help from one plane to another, they will get her where she needs to go. Someone willbe at the airport to meet her in NY if they know when she is arriving.

Another place like HKNC?? Not many. That is a pretty good program and it is all in one place.

Best of luck to her.
