Bradypus sings the Blues!

I've never written a Blues before. I read the thread on'What is the Blues', and it sounded as if I wasn't qualified to attempt this feat. Mbo found the words of 'Poppa Sings the Blues' for me, so I've used that as a template. Does this come anywhere close ?

Wild Turkey Blues

There's a fire in Lawrenceburg
And the flames are reaching high into the sky
There's a fire in Lawrenceburg
And the flames are reaching high into the sky
When I heard about that fire
It made me feel so sad that I could cry

The distillery's on fire
The whiskey's going up in flames and smoke
The distillery's on fire
The whiskey will be lost for this poor bloke
When they hear this on the mudcat
They'll turn it into some poor kind of joke

A thousand casks of bourbon
Exploding like gunfire in the night
Ten thousand gallons of whiskey
Lost forever, and that don't seem right
The fire fighters fought it
Thank God no one was injured in the fight

The whiskey's in the river
And the fish are swimming happy, feeling high
There's bourbon in the water
They've turned off all the taps to keep folks dry
If there was water in the whiskey
That would make us happy, you and I

The Wild Turkey is roasted
Its feathers singed, in ten years it won't fly
I don't like my Turkey flambéed
It leaves the turkey tasting far to dry
But I love the taste of woodsmoke
So I'll switch to Talisker, or else Laphroaig!
