My first reaction was the same as yayaya's ~ I expected news of some kind of re-release of vintage recordings, and immediately felt betrayed by a self-promoting hustler.

After just a few moments, I relented and decided to give the guy a break. Maybe his music is worthwhile; it's much the same sort of thing many of us try to do, after all, and if the guy is a more shameless salesman-of-self than you or I, that might not be a bad thing. Most of us could probably do a better job of self-promotion than we do.

If we received a message like this from a familiar name, a member, we'd probably feel OK about it. As a way to introduce oneself to this online community, however, the above is a bit short on tact.
