First, I am so sad that the Pens lost Colby Armstrong and Angelo Esposito (at the trade deadline), I almost cried. Christenson, well... I like a guy who will hit as needed, so what can I say. Great potential, but not worth keeping on the roster/salary cap for shootouts, and our goalies have lots of knowledge about his shootouts. And there are no shootouts in the playoffs.

Who we got? Of course I see the potential with Hossa and Gill. Dupuis I have never really noticed.

But as Hardi and I processed the news while catching parts of last night's game, and as we headed up to bed, for us it all came down to one question:

"Does tonight's videotape count as a "classic" to preserve (either as-is or in DVD format)?"

And we both instinctively came to the same conclusion-- that it's worth keeping until the Cup is decided, and THEN we'll know if it's a keeper and, if so, in what format! :~) It was a new tape, so I'll do like I did with Sid's Gordie Howe hat trick, and with New-Arena Madness, and add the rest of Hossa-mania to it over the next few days.

???

But right now I'm thinking of Petr Sykora's twinkling eyes as he said last night that he was looking forward to seeing Hossa "play with Sid." Sykora ALSO was bought to play with Sid, but is doing best with Malkin (they played together in Russia). I think he was articulating our thought-- that playing with Sid is a tricky business, and there are no guarantees. Oh, lots of guys SHOULD be able to do it, but...... as far as I can recall, only Colby actually DID it.

Too bad they don't do auditions in the NHL, eh?
