Just got back from hospital. They decided to take her down to theatre for a laproscopy at 6 pm this evening after starving her since this morning, they had a good look round and said her ovaries and other bits looked OK but that the appendix was a bit 'sticky' at the back, whatever that means! he said it looked like it had been infected and was almost recovered, but felt that it could well flare up again as it was 'sticky' (I really dont know what he meant) and that they had removed it to prevent any infection spreading and possibly causing sterility etc as there are so many other organs in a young womans pelvic area that could be affected. She arrived back on the ward at 9pm, they performed it all with keyhole surgery so she will have minimal scarring and she was very woozy and in pain, but coherent enough to demand a kiss from her boyfriend before we went home - her lovely boyfriend sat and patiently waited for her to return to the ward with me all evening, bless him! We left her to sleep off the anasthetic and I'll be back tomorrow when hopefully she'll be feeling a little better. Ill keep you posted.
