You could say the same thing, I guess, if something unusual like that happened in Blind River, Ontario. Or in Mimico (a notoriously featureless suburb of Toronto).

Only in the case of Bind River it would be more like "Hundreds are confused and bewildered, trying to come to terms with the fact that something interesting has happened in Blind River. Hundreds of others were, like, too drunk to notice, eh?"
