For some reason I've always thought of Lonesome roving wolves as an emigration song. I think I first heard it sung by Helen Schneyer and it deals with the Mormon migration across (what is now) the US.

And Richard Mellish's The Sound of the Windlasses might be the song more correctly known as "Look out below!" by Charles Thatcher.
