I'd never thought about bone marrow donation, until a friend recently got sick. A young guy with a small kid. Apparently there's an international registry, usually run by whatever organization deals with blood donations. It's very hard to find an effective match, but the more people who sign up, the better the chances for the ailing.

Alas, I'm to old and decrepit to participate, but if you're under 45, this is a quick way to rack up some good Karma (or whatever). A pin-prick or maybe just a cotton swab inside the cheek is all it takes.

And the especially need people from ethnic minorities, who are under-represented in the data base.
