I'm working through repairing an item bought through a winning bid from eBay. Luck of the draw, they sold as is, but made it sound like it worked. I bought a warranty so will let that take care of the repair. Expensive, but it will eventually work in the end and will cost me a lot less to use this scanner than to take hundreds of slides in to be scanned. Caveat emptor, and you do have to have a plan. I knew this was a possiblity, after watching a year's worth of auctions go by for these items. There are things I no longer attempt to buy on eBay, because a lot of sellers are simply dishonest or fools.
