Black Walnut--I'm not sure what you mean by figureboard is wider. Some makers make the nuts to accommodate 4-equidistant strings on standard size dulcimers with no wider fingerboards. The only significant fignure spacing problem I encountered was if I wanted to use both melody strings playing the same note. Then two figures would have to act as one.
