Like Roger says, you can keep the Guilds up to standard tuning. You can tell by hefting one the things. Compared to a Martin, they are built like a '40 Chevy and can take it. They have a monstrous heel block. Wish I had one. I do have the six string version of it, the F50. Guilds are good workhorse guitars.
