I wish the whole St Patrick's Day thing would go away, and I'm sure the police and the hospitals in Kansas City would agree. The holiday here is mostly an excuse for a gigantic, drunken brawl. There are shootings and many arrests.

Last year, a young man, very drunk. plunged out of a multi-story parking lot in the main drinking area. I can't remember whether the fall killed him, but I believe it did. If it didn't, there is little chance that he has returned to normal existence.

This is considered 'normal' for St Patrick's Day!

Sad, sad, sad...

The Hibernians, who sponsor the parade, are trying to improve the situation. Moving the parade from 2 pm to 10 am has helped. But there is only so much they can do about the drinking.

Maybe we could get the church to move the day to whatever day in the winter is farthest below zero...
