Plenty of great rock bands, but among the folk and acoustic performers, my favourites were probably the first time I saw Paul Downes and Phil Beer or Bill Boazman at the Downs and Outs Folk Club at Cholsey, near Reading in 1976. Others worthy of mention are: Cyril Tawney back in the early eighties at a small club in Stoke on Trent
Steeleye Span at a small gig in Senden, near Münster in 1984 0r 1985
Andy Irvine and Mick Hanly in Tinnef, Köln in 1979
Dick Gaughan at a festival near Koblenz in 1979
Colin Wilkie in Alte Feuerwache ca. 1982
Wild Oats - Downs and Outs near Reading in 1976
Heron - Cap and Gown Reading - mid seventies
Nic Jones - Reading mid seventies
Martin Carthy - British Council Köln - 1985
Tannahill Weavers - British Council Köln - 1985
Jeremy Taylor - Cap and Gown ca 1978
Pete Morton - The Grove, Alsager 1983
Gay and Terry Woods, Cap and Gown, Reading - mid seventies
Don Partridge at the Grove in Alsager ca. 1984
There are probably many others, which I enjoyed just as much, but if I could have any of them again, I would go out to see Downes and Beer and Bill Boazman tonight.
