I don't think that it really matters what the religious content of Buddhism Islam or Christianity are, I think they are all equally perceived threats to the Chinese communist machine as they are autonomous organizations whose members are loyal to an authority not accountable to the party.

Hence hamfisted and culturally inept attempts to impose a state appointed Panchen and Dalai Lama.

Hence buddhists and Moslems are equally likely to be on the receiving end as they are both distractions from the greater good of striving for the welfare of the state, instead leaving their followers in a self satisfied stupor.

So that's why it's really important to murder people!
