My wife knew computers...but that was mostly mainframes. A friend did bulletin boards in the early 90s, but I didn't see what he got from it. I actually started reading about the WWW and how that was different from the internet...(it is, you know!)...so we had an old 386 beefed up and got AOL in Fall of '95...with a 14400 modem! *gasp*...AOL drove me crazy for several months until a new server offered REAL access to the WWW, and I started exploring. A few months later, Mudcat was born.
