Ha! Ha! Beautifully described.

Well, I remember seeing more than a few of those brittle social occasions when I was growing up and my parents were hosting them or going to them...my mother dithering around on the edge of a nervous breakdown in a frenzy of acute concern as to whether everything was as perfect as it HAD to be....but I have managed to totally avoid such dinner parties in my own adult life.

I just don't make it as a fully-fledged successful White Person, I guess... ;-)
