An odd use of "beliefs". Your "beliefs" are the things you believe in, and what kind of policies are they if you don't believe in them?

"Vote for me. I can guarantee that I don't believe in any of the things I say, on principle."   True enough for many politicians that would be the honest truth, including some who speak most fervently about issues of "morality".
