Thread Name: Origins: Tap Tap on my Window
Subject: Origins: Tap Tap on my Window
We just re-watched the Australian film "The Picture Show Man" (1977). I always enjoy it in spite of it's short-comings. The actors and sets are wonderful.
Anyway there's a song featured in it that I've always wondered about.
It's probably called -- "Tap, Tap on my Window". I've tried other lines from the song without any luck. I can't find it anywhere. There's no mention of it on the film credits, nor on the Internet Movie Database. -- Which does say "original music by Peter Best. I take that to mean the theme song which is quite different in every way.
"Tap, Tap etc." sounds like an old song from close to the period in which the movie is set -- 1900 or so. I've heard it recently on the radio but I missed the comment about it.
I could post the lyrics if anyone else is interested but I'd have to take them from the movie and it would take time.
It starts:
Tap, tap on my window, could it be that you are still in love with me...
Mainly I'd just like to find out it's origins.
Cheers, Joy
