Max and everybody else: There's an excellent reason (space aside) for keeping the number of permathreads down to a very very few:

The idea is to provide guidance to newbies. Neewbies may read the first one or two threads before diving in, but certainly not ten or twelve.

Classic threads, IMO, are best handled as links, with access to the links explained in the first permathread.
